Question 2 of 128 American Government ★ 65/20 question

What is the supreme law of the land?

Answers USCIS accepts

  • (U.S.) Constitution

Give any one of these answers at your interview.

The supreme law of the land is the U.S. Constitution.

What it means

The U.S. Constitution is the highest law in the country. No federal law, state law or court decision can go against it. If a law conflicts with the Constitution, courts can strike that law down.

The Constitution was written in 1787 at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia and is still in use today. It sets up the government, divides its power and protects the rights of the people.

This is a 65/20 question. If you are 65 or older and have been a permanent resident for 20 years or more, you may be asked it from the shorter starred list.
